Four Sisters From Nowhere

Chapter 17

Chapter 17: A Free Shield

She snapped out of her daze and exclaimed angrily, “Do you not make a sound while you walk? Are you trying to scare us?”

Jazmine furrowed her brows slightly, “When did you come in?”

“I came in after you, I came to play games because I was bored and it’d help my digestion!”

Uncomfortable with their hesitant gazes, Kaiden returned them a weird stare. “Why are you staring at me like you’re going to swallow me alive? Is there a flower on my face?”

“No… What? Stop thinking too highly of yourself!” Panicking, Jazmine switched her gaze in another direction.

‘Gosh! Why would I look at him like that?’

Yvonne went along, “Yeah, Kaiden, you came in here without a sound, it’s terrifying!”

Jazmine dragged Yvonne back into her room as she did not want to stay in the basement.

She shut the door mysteriously and approached Yvonne suddenly.

“Von, did you notice something different about Kaiden? I feel like he doesn’t look as bad as before.”

Besides, he helped her to repair her boombox and radio.

Of course, Jazmine did not tell Yvonne about that.

Astonished at Jazmine’s thought, Yvonne stared at her in terror although she had to admit that Kaiden was indeed not as nasty as the first time they met.

“Please don’t tell me that you like him!”

“But I felt butterflies in my stomach just now!”

Jazmine held her chest to feel her rapidly beating heart. It was something she never experienced before.

She was not certain whether she had feelings for him, perhaps it happened because she was panicking. Why would she be interested in that guy?

He had been really nasty and bullied them a lot when they were young, not to mention he tried to throw them out multiple times.

“You should tell Mom that you’re willing to marry him if you two have feelings for each other.”

Yvonne was surprised that Jazmine would grow feelings toward Kaiden after a short time of interaction. She was partially encouraging her because it would be great news if they got together and the sisters would save all the shoving around.

She had no intention of getting married to Kaiden and she would let Jazmine do it if she was willing to.

“No… I don’t want to marry him. There’s no way that I like him, maybe I misunderstood my feelings.”

Jazmine denied hurriedly the moment Yvonne mentioned her marrying Kaiden.

She did not want to get married to that prick!

“Rejecting so soon? He isn’t bad-looking. Although he’s still lacking for my little sister, he’ll be a good sight if you take him out, he’s fitting to be your shield.”

“You have been frustrated every day because of your many pursuers. You can take him with you whenever you go out, he can be your shield if you meet someone annoying.”

Yvonne showered Kaiden with exaggerated compliments as she analyzed.

Jazmine became exasperated. “If he’s really that great, how about…you take him?”

“Forget it, hahaha…”

Kaiden returned to his room after the game when he received a notification on his phone. Someone sent him a friend request on LINE.

‘Who’s this?’

That person did not show any useful information. Aside from stating that she was female in the column, nothing else stated was notable.

He wanted to ignore the request when the woman updated her profile and uploaded a blurry photo.

‘Wait, why does the background look so familiar?’

He tried to recall anything but he could not remember anything useful. He decided to approve the friend request.

He sent her a question mark.

*Ding*

‘Hello, old friend. It’s been a while, do you remember me?’

She replied instantly as if she had been waiting for his text.

Kaiden was not in a rush to reply. He fell into a daze when he saw her ID.

‘Past Days’

It was a hippie name. Kaiden believed that she was either a cheesy person or she had an unforgettable past.

He scrolled past the pictures of her daily life in her profile and figured that she must be an exquisite woman who emphasized her quality of life.

‘Is there any special meaning behind the name?’

“You are…?”

His finger danced across the screen before pressing the send button.

Past days: “I guess you forgot about me, that’s disappointing.”

“But that’s fine, I remember you. Your name is Kaiden Collins, you’re 20 this year.”

Kaiden: “?? (surprised emoji)”

Past Days: “I’m sure that you’re curious about who I am but that’s okay, there will be plenty of chances for us to meet. I’m sure that you will recognize me the next time we meet!”

“Goodbye!”

Kaiden: “Hello?”

She did not reply no matter how many question marks Kaiden sent.

‘She’s acting cold? Isn’t she worried that I might delete her?’

Kaiden was in a daze when Alexandra approached him suddenly.

“What are you dreaming about? Why aren’t you answering me? I’ve been calling your name for a while.”

“Huh?”

Kaiden stared at Alexandra who walked into his room when he was not paying attention with astonishment, “When did you come in?”

“I just came in. I called you a few times, I asked Auntie to cut some fruits but you didn’t respond so I came to check.”

“Oh, I was distracted. Fruits, right? Let’s go!”

He dragged Alexandra out of his room.

“Wow, that’s a lot.” Kaiden looked at the various fruits on the table with astonishment.

There were some fruits that he did not recognize.

“What’s this?”

He put a yellow, crystal clear fruit into his mouth, it tasted good with its crisp texture and sweet juices!
