Four Sisters From Nowhere

Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Falling From Height

A clear and loud slap sounded.

“You b*stard, I’ve been closing my eyes on how you acted arrogantly in the company! Do you have any idea who you’ve offended today?”

Exasperated, the general manager glared at his nephew standing in front of him who was still oblivious.

He had been lenient with him for acting tyrannically in the company on usual days. However, he already notified him that the new chairman would be in the company and he advised him to take things down a notch. He was not expecting that he would make such a ruckus during his short time away.

‘Great, he just had to offend the boss out of so many people.’

“Uncle, I…I…”

Walter finally realized that he got into trouble despite his stupidity.

“You idiot, this is the new chairman of our company! You’re…really something! Sigh!”

Looking at his nephew’s impenitent face, the GM turned around with disappointment and went down on his knees in front of Kaiden again.

“The…chairman?”

Walter slumped onto the floor due to shock.

Regardless of Kaiden’s background, he became their new chairman within one day and they could not afford to offend the Quinn family behind the company.

Walter regained his senses and crawling to Kaiden’s legs swiftly to ask for his forgiveness in a timid manner.

“Leave.”

Kaiden waved his hand indifferently. Giving Walter a chance would only cause harm. Regardless of whether Alexandra was taking care of him or asking for his favor to take care of the company, he decided not to let someone like Walter stay since he had the right to make a decision.

“I…”

Looking at Kaiden’s unmoved expression, Walter understood that talking would be of no use.

“Sir, I’m so sorry. I can’t deny, it is my fault for not teaching him well. I let the company down…”

The GM drooped instantly like a deflated balloon.

Looking at his dejected face, Walter knew that he could not go back from this. He slumped on the floor in a daze and he had to accept the truth.

Kaiden waited for the two to become silent before switching his gaze to Jade who was dazed.

It was awkward. Jade regained her composure and put on her signature smile under the crowd’s stare.

Kaiden used to say that she looked best with a smile. She figured that he would not be unaffected by his first love’s smile.

“I’m surprised that you accomplished so much throughout the years. I was blind for causing such turmoil. Kaiden, you are not going to staying mad at me, are you?”

She blinked her huge eyes and almost threw herself upon him. Her intention to fawn clearly visible on her face.

“Cough, just talk it out. Don’t touch me!”

Kaiden retracted his arm from her due to the sudden awkwardness.

Jade’s expression stiffened from getting rejected after taking the initiative. However, she concealed it very well, “Fine, it’s all my fault. I will never object again the next time you ask me to do anything. Is that okay?”

‘Hmm?’

A cold shiver ran down Kaiden’s spine because of her flirtatious tone and he got goosebumps all over.

He took a step back subconsciously to create some space between them and felt a lot more comfortable.

“Really?” asked Kaiden.

“Of course!” Jade answered without hesitation.

“If there’s nothing else, I hope that you never appear near me again.”

“Kaiden!” She refused to give up and wanted to say something but his dignified look shut her mouth.

Kaiden sighed, clearly disappointed. “I wanted to provide you support because of our previous relationship but it seems like you don’t really need it. Your attitude isn’t worth my effort!”

He switched his gaze toward the employees before stopping on a plain-looking silhouette at a corner. He could not see the woman’s face clearly because of the crowd but her simple clothing attracted him.

“The company will focus on giving her training for her talent for no other reason than the fact that I like how uncomplicated she looks.”

Kaiden was staring straight at Jade despite saying those words.

She understood that he was using the opportunity to mock her!

She could not do anything other than clenching her teeth and stomping her feet in anger, not to mention, she was asked to leave in a humiliating way. She had no right to argue with the chairman unless she gave up on continue living in this city!

“Hmph!”

Jade left the company unwillingly after scoffing.

Kaiden who had been maintaining a casual attitude was unaffected by the incident. He glanced at the two individuals on the ground, still on their knees, before returning to his office.

The GM who misinterpreted Kaiden’s words glanced at the woman he pointed to earlier who was frozen on the spot, unsure of what to do. He went to a deserted corner and called Alexandra secretively.

“What? You’re saying that he’s interested in a girl?”

Alexandra almost spat coffee when she heard the GM’s report.

‘Can he be any faster? It’s only his first day!’

“Hurry up, you can stop reporting to me! Take action already!”

Alexandra asked the GM to take action immediately as she was worried that Kaiden would change his mind. She lifted the corners of her lips into a smug smile as she thought to herself, ‘Men are indeed the same, they’re trash!’

The GM found the girl Kaiden pointed to after hanging up.

“She had delicate features, indeed! Boss has great taste!”

He looked at the young woman from top to toe before nodding with understanding.

“You are lucky that Boss is interested in you! He’s in his office, you should go see him right now and do your best to make him happy! Your future will be limitless if he likes you!”

“But… Sir, I…”

The girl stood there shyly with her cheeks flushed.

The GM interpreted her expression to be unwilling and he glared at her furiously, “You are extremely lucky that Boss likes you! There are so many others who are dreaming of this but they don’t! Don’t be stupid!”
